Description
The Department of Livestock, including animal husbandry, dairy, poultry farms, fisheries, and other related sectors, was established as the National Livestock Mission in 2014 to promote employment through entrepreneurship development. The NLD is one of the vital sectors supporting India's agricultural growth. Over the last 40 years, livestock production has been growing at a faster rate due to increasing demand in urban areas across the country.
There are some objectives for the livestock mission, like increasing animal productivity and producing milk, eggs, and meat.
